What are Some of Matt Wagner’s Biggest Accomplishments?!

matt-baseballYesterday we introduced you to Matt Wagner, one of the speaker’s for our annual conference scheduled on Jan. 4, 2017. Today we are sharing with you some of the inspiring accomplishments during his professional baseball career and beyond!

Matt Wagner, a native of Cedar Falls, IA, grew up like millions of others boys across the country with the dream of becoming a major league baseball player. After attending the University of Arkansas and Iowa State University, his baseball journey spanned the entire country and with stops in parts of Canada. He was drafted a total of three times. The first time by the Atlanta Braves out of high school, a second time by the Los Angeles Dodgers after a redshirt season, and the third time in the third round by the Seattle Mariners. He advanced through the minor league system with stops in Appleton, WI, Wilmington, NC, and Tacoma, WA, in addition to spending spring trainings in Arizona and Florida. After numerous setbacks and great persistence, Matt achieved his dream when he made his debut against the Cleveland Indians.

After yet another injury, Matt had to put an end to his career as a baseball player.  This is why he decided to return to Iowa and seek out a career change.  Matt has had a successful career with West Bank since 2010.  He is responsible for managing and growing his customer base, and he enjoys helping his customers achieve their goals by assisting with financing structure and managing cash flow cycles. Matt is active with the Urbandale Lions Club (outgoing president), Vice-Chair of the Taxpayers Association of Central Iowa, and you are likely to find him at a baseball field teaching baseball to his own, as well as other kids, throughout the year. He has been married for 21 years to his wife, Cari and they have three children: Maddie, a sophomore at Iowa Central in Fort Dodge and member of the softball team, Hayden, 11 years old and excellent at math, and Reagan, 7 years old and full of energy.
